EISTEDDFOD
RRSD participates in numerous competitions with the main one being the Annual Macrossan and Amiet Mackay Eisteddfod. RRSD groups from 8 Years to Mature and Motivated perform at the Mackay Eisteddfod annually, always receiving outstanding results. RRSD prides itself on providing students the opportunity to work with world-class choreographers, to ensure the most innovative and modern dance routines are being taught and performed on stage. This is an exciting chance for RRSD students to show off their skills and build confidence in a fun and motivating environment. Many hours are spent preparing for competitions and RRSD treasures the family bond this time creates between dancers, staff and families.
RRSD ANNUAL CONCERT
Each year Roby Rogers School of Dancing is proud to present DYNAMITE DANCING!
Dynamite Dancing is a dynamic, non-stop, production, celebrating a successful year of dance and performing at RRSD. Dynamite Dancing is action packed with
outstanding, award winning routines in Modern Jazz, Tap, Classical Ballet, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Musical Theatre and more. RRSD Dancers perform in front of a full theatre in their gorgeous costumes and make up accompanied by world class lighting effects, stage sets and props. RRSD believes this is the best way for dancers, families and staff to celebrate a wonderful year of dance at RRSD.
EXAMINATIONS
As part of our commitment to high quality tuition, dancers have the opportunity to enter Comdance examinations for Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Theatrical Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) as well as R.A.D.examinations in ballet. Examinations are optional, but highly encouraged. They provide a goal for dancers to achieve each year and challenge them to excel and improve, which teaches dancers commitment and dedication. Dancers are rewarded with certificates, trophies and reports.
Comdance Australia offers exciting and fresh examinations for all students in a variety of genres including, Ballet, Modern jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Theatrical and Performing Arts. These exams are a great way to boost studentโs confidence as well as their skills.
The R.A.D. offers an examination program to suit everybody, whether new to ballet or already an advanced student.
DANCE EXCELLENCE LA
Dance Excellence is an invite-only event for studios all over the world selected primarily in honour of their dedication to dance, performance and arts education. RRSD is thrilled to be the dance school chosen to represent Queensland, Australia at Dance Excellence LA, together with representatives from each of the 50 United States and 27 countries from around the world. At this prestigious convention held in the entertainment capital of the world – Los Angeles, dancers participate in classes, workshops and International Performance Boards showcasing all genres. The highlight of the week is a group performance on stage at Disneyland, California. Teachers and dancers gather to create, laugh, learn and sweat side by side while connecting through a shared love of the arts. This truly is an amazing experience for students to work with some of the worldโs top choreographers and professional dancers and also prepares them for real life experiences. The students learn and grow so much that you can actually see changes in them by the end of the week. 2016 was the 6th time RRSD represented Queensland, Australia at Dance Excellence and we are so excited to be heading over agin in 2025!!
COMMUNITY EVENTS
Roby Rogers School of Dancing feels as though community involvement is imperative to not only spread the love of dance, but also teach students the value and importance of giving back. RRSD has been involved in numerous community events in Mackay and surrounding regions including Relay for Life, Flash Mobs for Cancer Awareness, RACQ Charity Ball, The Mackay Show, G&S Engineering Food and Wine Festival, various fundraising events, as well as outreach programs in Coppabella, Valkyrie and Nebo. Being active in our community allows for team building, community relationship building, and promotes similar values and a sense of family.
