About Roby Rogers

The dance studio was founded by Principal, Mrs Robyn Morgan (nee Rogers), in 1986 and has operated continuously in the Mackay & Pioneer Valley area for over 35 years. Our mission is to provide a supportive and motivating dance studio environment for individuals to challenge, stimulate and reach their full potential through dance and the performing arts.

Robyn has been dedicated to the dance and performing arts industry for many years, solidifying her commitment in 1986, when she founded Roby Rogers School of Dancing. Since then, Robyn has successfully owned and operated her school in Mackay for over 35 years, spreading her passion for dance with hundreds of students.

Robyn has taught and studied all facets of dance and performing arts including, R.A.D Ballet, C.S.T.D Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz, Contemporary, Musical Theatre and National dancing. She has trained her students to excel, with many attaining outstanding results in examinations, competitions and professional dance programs. Many of Robyn’s dancers have successfully secured global careers in the professional performing arts industry, working in dance, modelling, and television, just to name a few.

Robyn has worked as a guest choreographer at dance schools across Australia and regularly attends workshops and seminars to continually advance her knowledge and expertise in dance education and performing arts. She takes pride in attending international dance events such as Dance Excellence LA USA and ARTS International LA USA, where she is able to network with other choreographers and industry professionals. Robyn has attended these events as both a director for the Queensland Australia Team, as well as a dance coach for the Australian Team in 2018. Robyn has also been a dance adjudicator at eisteddfods and dance competitions for over 15 years.

Robyn is passionate about sharing her knowledge and expertise with students, and providing a technical foundation of dance and performing, whilst instilling a loving and motivating environment.

Courtney commenced dance at the age of three at Roby Rogers School of Dancing and found her true passion in life. During her years of training, Courtney progressed successfully through many examinations, workshops and Eisteddfods, achieving outstanding results in all. She has won many Championships, Aggregates and other prestigious awards along the way, but finds she is most rewarded when teaching her students and sharing her love for dance. Courtney has attended many prestigious events in Australia and the USA including the Australian Dance Festival (ADF), and Dance Excellence LA in 2006, 2013 & 2016, acting as a Director for the Queensland team in 2016. Courtney has also travelled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as a guest choreographer for Comdance International, sharing her passion for dance overseas. She has choreographed many award-winning groups, solos, duo/trios for Eisteddfod and competition work.

Courtney has completed Comdance Teaching Diplomas in Modern Jazz, Tap and Theatrical Performing Arts, as-well as Level 5 Jason Winters Contemporary Syllabus. Courtney has completed the highly regarded RAD Advanced 2 Examination with fantastic results, and is studying a Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies at the Royal Academy of Dance London – graduating in 2021. Miss Courtney has a passion for teaching dance and enthusiastically shares this with all of her students in every class.

Annabelle commenced performing arts at the age of three at Roby Rogers School of Dancing. During her years of training, she progressed successfully through many examinations, workshops and Eisteddfods, achieving outstanding results in all genres. She has won Championships, Aggregates and other impressive awards along her performing journey, and loves to share her knowledge and passion of dance with students. Annabelle has attended prestigious events in Australia and the USA including Dance Excellence LA in 2006, 2013 & 2016 and most recently, ARTS International LA in December 2018, where she studied dance, acting, singing, modelling, tv commercials, voice overs and more. Annabelle has received acceptance and scholarships for numerous performing arts institutions including the New York Film Academy and Conroy’s Performing Arts College.

Annabelle has completed Comdance Teaching Certificates in Modern Jazz, Tap and Theatrical Performing Arts as well as Level 5 Jason Winters Contemporary Syllabus. Annabelle received Distinction in her RAD Advanced 2 Ballet Examination and immensely enjoys sharing her knowledge and expertise in this field with other dancers. Annabelle endeavours to complete her Teaching Diplomas in all genres of dance in the coming year. Miss Annabelle has a passion for dance, performing and teaching and enthusiastically shares this with students in all of her classes.

Stacie commenced dancing at a very young age, being one of the first students to dance at Roby Rogers School of Dancing. Stacie received all of her training at RRSD, completing examinations such as her Teachers Certificate and Diploma (Distinction) of the Royal Academy of Dance, and C.S.T.D Diploma for Tap. Stacie has travelled overseas to Los Angeles California as a Director for The Roby Rogers School of Dancing Qld Team in 2003, 2004, Assistant Director in 2006 and 2016. She has worked extensively with many international Choreographers in all dance forms. Stacie has choreographed many award-winning groups, solos, duo/trios for Eisteddfod and competition work. Miss Stacie works with students in all facets of dance focussing primarily on Modern Jazz, Contemporary, Stretch and Limber.

Jan studied in Brisbane, under her mother Pat Mackrodt, until the age of thirteen. While in Brisbane Jan had the thrill of every young student when she appeared as an extra with the Queensland Ballet in “The Nutcracker”, and the Australian Ballet in “The Tales of Hoffman”. She was then accepted into The Australian Ballet School where she studied for two years, and then continued her studies at the Victorian College of the Arts Tertiary Performers Course. She was engaged as a performer with the Queensland Ballet in 1985, appearing in the Christmas season of “Giselle”, and she was also a senior soloist in the Queensland Young Dancers Company. Jan was also successful in attaining her RAD Solo Seal award. Jan has successfully directed multiple dancing schools over the past 35 years in the Mackay and surrounding regions and has also had the pleasure of adjudicating various competitions and eisteddfods over the years.

Communication

We understand that families’ lead busy lives so we are constantly looking for ways to improve our service and communication with parents and students. 

We have a convenient and user-friendly parent portal where you can access everything you need to know regarding your dancer’s tuition, class times and upcoming events. The majority of our communication with parents is via email as this ensures everyone receives information quickly and conveniently.

However, we are always happy to be contacted by phone or meet with parents face to face to answer any queries or discuss any concerns.
