Dance offers all students at Roby Rogers School of Dancing many opportunities to perform, master, perfect and have lots of fun throughout the year . Students commenced weekly classes in preparation for their CSTD Examinations, Eisteddfod Routines and Concert performances. Our Little performers found their feet in the first two terms of, prior to commencing their Concert Routines in Term 3 and 4. Musicality, flexibility, co-ordination and many fun games and activities are some of the main elements our Little Performers have worked on throughout the year.

Examination students from Roby Rogers School of Dancing attended numerous workshops during 2017, expanding their dance technique and knowledge.  The year commenced with RRSD Staff and students attending the newest release workshops for CSTD syllabi in Brisbane, gaining extensive knowledge and expertise in the Tapping, Modern Jazz, and Contemporary art forms. RRSD students entered examinations in the latest release syllabi achieving outstanding results.

All RRSD Classical Ballet students attended an R.A.D classical ballet workshop with Ms Anna Veretennikova ( R.A.D Examiner) in June at the studio.    Leading up to their RAD examinations in July, R.A.D students attended workshops in Mackay , Townsville and Brisbane to attain the final detail before their examination. This provided students with a broad spectrum of knowledge, preparing them for their examinations. Graded students attended workshops in Mackay in the Easter and June July Holidays held by RAD Accredited examiners and tutors.

A highlight for our dancers in 2017 was our in-studio Performance Workshop with Jessica Stokes and Christopher Horsey. In preparation for Mackay Eisteddfod and Dynamite Dancing 2017, Eisteddfod performers kick started Term 3, working with some of the best choreographers in the word of dance. Jessica Stokes (professional performer and choreographer) enlightened and inspired our Modern and Cabaret students with her world class choreography and skill.  Christopher Horsey (professional performer and choreographer) worked alongside our tapping performers, creating their tap routines full of style, quirk and entertainment quality. RRSD Dancers immensely enjoyed working with the industries best, and we pride ourselves in offering our dancers with the best opportunity and most contemporary choreography.

RRSD Dancers performed in the Mackay Eisteddfod, Mackay Dance Festival, Gladstone Eisteddfod, Bundaberg Eisteddfod and many more competitions, coming away with fantastic, commendable results.

All RRSD Dancers have grown, improved and shone throughout 2017, showing great promise for their future endeavors.

Musical Theatre has been a fantastic addition to the art forms in which RRSD proudly offer. Performers have enjoyed exploring the different elements of Musical Theatre through speech and drama exercises and games, singing warm up’s and vocal training as well as dance and performance techniques. Musical Theatre students entered CSTD Theatrical Performing Arts Examinations in 2017, achieving outstanding results, with 100% of performers achieving Honours Plus (95-100%) and Honours (90-95%).  In 2017 all Musical Theatre students had the opportunity to perform in the Mackay Eisteddfod in both Musical Theatre and Speech and Drama sections. Entering in the “Excerpt from any Musical” section, gave performers the opportunity to experience the challenges involved in performing Musical Theatre combining all major elements. Musical Theatre has not only offered students a chance to explore the different elements of the art form, but to enter another world of performing, creating characters and exploring their personalities in a different and exciting way. Throughout 2017, RRSD faculty have enjoyed watching performers in Musical Theatre grow in confidence, talent and performance skills.
